Let There Be Light!

Lightsworn fans! The first new Lightsworn cards in over five years make their way into the Realm of Light Structure Deck!
By July 03, 2014

Lightsworn monsters have high ATK, incredible effects, or both. The price for all that power is that they constantly send anywhere from two to four cards from your Deck to the Graveyard at the end of each of your turns or when they use their abilities. That means you have to work quickly when you’re Dueling with Lightsworn, because the longer the Duel takes the fewer cards will remain in your Deck, and if you run out, you’ll lose the Duel next time you have to draw a card.

Of course, you’ll still want to get plenty of Lightsworn monsters into your Graveyard, because as long as you have four or more different Lightsworn in your Graveyard, you can Special Summon the all-powerful Judgment Dragon! Its 3000 ATK and ability to clear the field of all other cards make it one of the strongest ace monsters ever created, and two of the new Lightsworn monsters from the Realm of Light Structure Deck make it easier to play than ever before.

Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn is a Level 4 Tuner monster, so even without any special abilities he’d be a powerful addition to the Lightsworn strategy. But he has an ability, and it’s pretty useful! During your Main Phase, you can send the top two cards of your Deck to the Graveyard, and if any of them are Lightsworn, he gains 200 ATK, putting him at 1900 until the end of your opponent’s turn. This Lightsworn-themed take on the classic Card Trooper effect makes Raiden perfect in a Lightsworn Deck and makes it even easier to use the effect of the other new Lightsworn Tuner, Minerva, Lightsworn Maiden.

When you Normal Summon Minerva, you get to add a LIGHT Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to your hand whose Level is less than or equal to the total number of different Lightsworn monsters in your Graveyard. If you can rack up eight different Lightsworn, Minerva can instantly add Judgment Dragon straight from your Deck to your hand—something the Lightsworn strategy has never been able to do before! She’s also a Level 3 Tuner, so you can combine her with Lightsworn mainstays like Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress to Summon the new Synchro Monster, Michael, the Arch-Lightsworn!

Michael works like a condensed version of Judgment Dragon. Judgment Dragon lets you pay 1000 Life Points to destroy everything else. Michael lets you pay 1000 Life Points to completely erase one thing from existence, banishing it from the Duel. He also lets you get around the eventual depletion of your Deck by shuffling any number of Lightsworn back into the Deck and lets you gain Life Points for each of them!

No Lightsworn Duelist, old or new, will want to be without these new cards, so check out the Realm of Light Structure Deck, available now!
