The new Burning Abyss cards in The New Challengers will let you add Synchro Summoning to your strategy!

The Burning Abyss Deck has been on fire since it hit the Dueling scene in Duelist Alliance, and now with new Burning Abyss cards from The New Challengers hot off the presses, Burning Abyss Decks can officially add Synchro Summoning to their strategic arsenal!

Burning Abyss Decks couldn’t Synchro Summon before because their Malebranche monsters would self-destruct if you tried to put them on the field at the same time as a Tuner monster, but now they’re getting their own Tuner monster—Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss! Just like other Malebranche monsters, Rubic can be Special Summoned from your hand if you don't control any Spell or Trap Cards. It’s also Level 3, so you can use it to Synchro or Xyz Summon, depending on which is more useful at the time.

Of course, a Tuner without a Synchro Monster to Summon isn’t very useful at all, so you’ll also want to pick up Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss! Virgil lives up to his name—he’s a Level 6 Synchro monster with 2500 ATK and two superstar abilities! First, you can discard a Burning Abyss card to kick any card on your opponent’s field or in their Graveyard back to the Deck. And if Virgil is destroyed by battle or a card effect (even your own card effect) and sent to the Graveyard, you get to draw a card. Virgil is practically the official spokesman of “damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” befitting of his status as “Rockstar of the Burning Abyss”!

Of course, sometimes you’ll want to watch the whole field burn, and when it’s time to wipe the slate clean and claim the effects of all your Burning Abyss monsters, give the new Fire Lake of the Burning Abyss Trap Card a try! You send two of your Burning Abyss monsters on the field to the Graveyard to target up to three cards anywhere on the field and destroy them! It’s a great way to reset the field at the end of your opponent’s turn so that you can create a constant barrage of smaller monsters with a clear path to your opponent’s Life Points!

And that’s not even all, there are two more Malebranche in The New Challengers to help you buff up your ability to Summon multiple monsters each turn. The best part is, you don’t have to stop using the Burning Abyss strategies that have been around since August—all the new cards work great with what you’re already doing!

The New Challengers is on shelves right now!
