To defeat Satan and other demons, Rin will need more than just his Blue Flame. Luckily he has friends who each specialize in different types of Exorcism. At True Cross Academy, students choose and hone a skill set, or meister, as their specialty. Each of these meisters has a unique way of exorcising demons and assisting their teammates. Let's take a look at each different type.

Knight

Knights use swords to hack and slash demons apart. Rin is perfect for this type, especially since he wields the powerful Koma sword. When caught in dire situations, Rin often uses his brute strength to lead demons away from his friends so he can tackle them head on. This strategy also helps his friends recover from prior injuries. Though Knights possess a lot of strength, sometimes it's not enough to take down powerful demons.

Dragoon

Much like Knights, Dragoons destroy demons with force and use firearms to rapidly attack opponents from a distance. Filling demons with bullets is Yukio’s preferred method of attacking, and when he fights alongside Rin, they make the perfect fighting duo! Yukio can quickly lower the enemy’s numbers or render them disabled while Rin finishes them off with his Koma sword. Demons don’t stand a chance against their teamwork!

Tamer

Why beat them when you can use them? Instead of fighting demons directly, Tamers have demons do the fighting for them. Using their familiars, Tamers can play multiple roles. A perfect example is Kamiki’s Inari who aids her in many tasks, from expelling demons to fetching water. With her demons Kamiki can easily support her team.

Aria

Sometimes words are mightier than swords for Exorcists! Arias recite death phrases from bibles and sutras to expel demons. Aria’s have one weakness though. While chanting, they are left vulnerable to attacks. However, excellent teamwork easily remedies this. In volume 2, while Konekomaru and Suguro recite phases, Shima drives demons away with his staff. This teamwork was key in their promotion to Exwires.

Double Meisters

Exorcists can specialize in more than one skill set. For example, Shiemi is both a Tamer and a Doctor. Her adorable familiar Nee summons plants for her so she can protect her friends and treat their wounds.

The key to well balanced team is the bond of friendship and trust. Demons should tremble in fear when they combine their abilities! But what if someone on your team is not only a demon, but the son of Satan to boot?!
