Don Quixote Doflamingo could very well be the most influential pirate on the high seas. As a Warlord of the Sea, he’s a government-sanctioned pirate who has an official license to pillage and plunder as he sees fit. He’s also one of the most notorious black market figures, known simply as Joker. Plus he’s got a whole kingdom he rules! As if that’s not enough, there’s more to this enigmatic figure than first meets the eye...

Over eight centuries ago, twenty kings from twenty kingdoms gathered at the center of the world and established the World Government. They brought over their families, minus the Nefertari family of Alabasta, and became known as the Celestial Dragons.

However, the kingdoms that lost their kings needed replacements. In Dressrosa, the Riku family took over for the Don Quixotes and ruled for centuries—that is until Doflamingo decided to revoke his Celestial Dragon status and reclaim Dressrosa as his own to rule.

A decade ago, Don Quixote Doflamingo returned to his family’s homeland and deposed the Riku Dynasty. His minions hunted down every last member of the family, minus one—Rebecca—who’s now an imprisoned gladiator biding her time to strike against Doflamingo’s tyrannical reign.
