Cover
art by Eiichiro Oda
Due to all the One Piece: Pirate Warriors coverage I’ve been putting up on the site, I’ve been getting a lot of One Piece action lately, and that is fine by me! Especially considering how much fun I’m having. But not as much fun as Luffy looks like he’s having on this cover!
One Piece
by Eiichiro Oda
Another action-packed chapter bordering on straight mania! Will this series ever calm down? I hope not! Anyhoots, it’s interesting to see more of the bad guys behind the scenes and their nefarious intentions come to light. I’m looking forward to the upcoming fights!
Naruto
by Masashi Kishimoto
A cool Obito flashback, and one that explains a lot! Who would have ever guessed Obito would play such a huge part in the story. Well, I bet a lot of people did, but not me! I’ll be interested to see how he goes from being a good-hearted shinobi to turning into the monster he becomes.
Takama-ga-hara
by Jyuuzou Kawai
The more info about the super-powered fighting school Takama-ga-hara is revealed, the more I like it! I was pretty sure mangaka Jyuuzou Kawai was into classic martial arts movies when he referenced the Sonny Chiba Street fighter series earlier, but now I know as there is a Master Killer (a.k.a. The 36th Chamber of Shaolin) reference in here as well as a Karate Kid one! I’m into this series!
Cross Manage
by Kaito
The second chapter of the brand new manga, Cross Manage! I have to say, I’m enjoying this manga a bit more than I thought I would. I mean, I’ve rarely found a SJ manga I didn’t enjoy on some level, but I like the light, fun feel of this series. It’s a good contrast to the other serious titles we’re running right now.
Bleach
by Tite Kubo
Bleach is off the hook right now! I know I keep going on about how fun it is to see Yamamoto in action, but he really looks cool. Like, cooler than just about anybody else in the manga. This guy needs his own arc!!!
Toriko
by Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro
I love the fact that the chefs are a key factor to this plotline, and not just the hunters. It shows Shimabukuro’s intense devotion to the theme of his manga—food. He doesn’t just focus on monsters and fighting, there’s plenty of focus on food and the preparation of it. And that’s what makes this manga great! That and about a million other things!
Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal
Original Concept by Kazuki Takahashi
Story by Shin Yoshida, Art by Masashi Sato
Production Support: STUDIO DICE
Does this series have the best name for a bad guy, or what? Dr. Faker! “Dr. Faker, Dr. Faker, paging Dr. Faker, you’re needed in plastic surgery.” One of the best things about this Yu-Gi-Oh! series is it seems like it has a lot of plot. Sure Dueling is important, but if we don't care about the characters and their plight, it’s just Dueling. And I’m into this story! Oh, and also someone yells out “Tetsuo!” in this chapter, which makes me smile and think of Akira. Akira!!!!!
