Yer gonna have a hell of a time with this week's lesson!
Welcome to the Nihongo Lesson feature. We strive to give you useful manga-based Japanese language tips and maybe even a glimpse into the translation process. This week's lesson will focus on some characters from the amazing comedy/action series One-Punch Man! If you’ve only seen the anime, grab the manga and checkout everything you’ve missed!
JIGOKU NO FUBUKI (地獄のフブキ)
JIGOKU NO FUBUKI means “blizzard from hell”—or as localized in the English version of One-Punch Man, “Hellish Blizzard.” Blizzard is an interesting character in the series. She’s super strong with her telekinetic powers and even has a whole team backing her. But hiding behind her confidence is a big inferiority complex due to the fact that her older sister is one of the strongest heroes around! Hard to blame her…
SENRITSU NO TATSUMAKI
(戦慄のタツマキ)
SENRITSU means “horrible” or “terrible” and TATSUMAKI is “tornado.” Terrible Tornado is Fubuki’s sister and also the number two S-ranked hero. Since number one hero Blast has yet to be revealed, Tornado is pretty much the most powerful in the hero organization that we’ve seen. And true to her name, she is terrible! Tornado looks and acts like a spoiled child. She has no respect for anyone and is even mean to her sister. But perhaps there’s a heart hiding under that tough exterior. Will it take a massive punch from Saitama to break down her walls?
