You can use Called by the Grave to target one monster in your opponent’s Graveyard. Called by the Grave banishes that target and negates that monster’s effects, as well as the activated effects and effects on the field of monsters with the same original name as that monster, until the end of the next turn. Simply put, once Called by the Grave targets and banishes a monster, it negates all of that particular monster’s effects, as well as any activated effects of monsters with the same original name and all effects of monsters with that same original name that are on the field.

Called by the Grave’s ability to banish a monster from your opponent’s Graveyard can be powerful, even if you ignore the rest of the effect of Called by the Grave. Banishing an opponent’s monster targeted by Monster Reborn or Soul Charge to prevent that monster from striking the field can have a huge impact on a Duel. That’s why D.D. Crow, which simply banishes a card from an opponent’s Graveyard, has been popular for so many years.

But Called by the Grave’s ability to negate monster effects may be its strongest point. Many monsters go to the Graveyard before their effects resolve, even if they have effects that activate on a Duelist’s field or in a Duelist’s hand. Once they’re in the Graveyard, those monsters are vulnerable to Called by the Grave. Those monsters include Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Ghost Reaper & Winter Cherries, D.D. Crow and more!

Even monsters that stay on the field after activating their effects, like Trickstar Candina, may be vulnerable to Called by the Grave. If there’s a second copy of that monster in your opponent’s Graveyard, you can use Called by the Grave to banish that duplicate copy when your opponent activates the effect of their on-field monster. That’ll negate the effects of all monsters with the same name as the banished monster, including the on-field monster whose effect was activated.

Called by the Grave is a versatile card that can stop a lot of key effects in a Duel. You can get a Super Rare copy of Called by the Grave in the Extreme Force Special Edition and add it to your Deck before it’s available in Flames of Destruction  later this year!
