Friday Night Fights: YU-GI-OH! 3D

By December 06, 2011

Join us as Weekly SHONEN JUMP Alpha goes to the Movies!

Once in a great while the TEAM JUMP actually leaves the office! It's rare, but on the occasion, an event is so compelling we all get in our pirate ship and sail for adventure! In our latest exploit, we descended upon the sleepy town of Fairfax, CA for a screening of Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time! and some hardcore dueling! Here's what happened...

In a quiet small town, the unsuspecting citizens went about their peaceful day, until SJ arrived on the scene! Yugi leans back and takes in the beautiful scenery. These were the last peaceful moments before the maelstrom known as Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D: Bonds Beyond Time began!

Just like any good SHONEN JUMP manga, our heroes quickly gathered a formidable group of Duelists and Yu-Gi-Oh! enthusiasts. We were now ready to have our minds blown away from watching Yu-Gi-Oh! in 3D!

Once inside, our expectations reached a feverish pitch. Could this be the dueling movie we've all been waiting for?! And will our 3D glasses be enough to protect our eyes from all the spiky hair?

After witnessing the epicness of ALL three Yu-Gi-Oh! characters joining forces, the crew headed out to a nearby cafe where we dueled to our heart's content. And as luck would have it, Paradox was there and ready for rematches!

We knew we were in a world of hurt when Paradox whipped out her homemade game mat! Now that's one serious Duelist!

First up to bat...Associate Editor John "Yusei" Bae took on Paradox. The stage was set for an epic Duel...except for one problem. Yusei did not draw a single monster!

And here's John "Yusei" Bae begging for a piece of his dignity back. But Paradox wasn't having it, so he turned to the original King of Games to take over. Urian "Yugi" Brown, you're up next!

Yugi came ready to Duel! But Paradox's Malefic monsters were just too much to handle and he was dispatched quickly. How quickly? The Duel lasted less than a minute! Pathetic!

Great Duels bring out the appetite in people! Paradox better watch out cuz ravenous Yu-Gi-Oh! fans won't stop at nothing to satisfy their hunger.

After hurting us, Paradox felt bad and gave us cookies to make us feel better! The symbols on the cookies represent the three main characters—the starfish for Yugi, jellyfish for Jaden and crab for Yusei.

While TEAM JUMP was getting schooled by Paradox, other fans were busy checking out the massive collection of cards we brought along.

Out of nowhere, Yusei appeared to save the day!

After a day filled with dueling fun, the crew took one last group photo in Fairfax. Thanks to everyone for coming out and making an already special Yu-Gi-Oh! movie outing into a truly epic event!
