In Queen’s Quality, Vol. 5, we learn more about Bug Handler Ataru’s past and his relationship with a gal whom he’s utterly convinced is Fumi. Ataru and this girl were part of an evil program where kids were pushed to the brink to potentially awaken mind-control powers. It’s so crazy that it explains why he’s so warped himself. (Hopefully those flashback scenes didn’t give you gentle readers nightmares. Yikes.)

Meanwhile, Fumi confronts the Black Queen within her and manages to transform into the Dark-Gray Queen. (Cuz that mysterious White Queen isn’t gonna make things easy for Fumi and just hand her some wholesome power, nope!) It’s awesome seeing Fumi level up and kick some butt! In a completely different way than how we saw the Black Queen kick butt in volume 3…

Speaking of the Black Queen, I am going to be totally honest and own up to the fact that I teared up at the end of this volume. (Don’t tell me I’m the only one!) The Black Queen has been one of my favorite characters in this series…! Luckily, there’re lots more great stuff in store in volume 6, so look forward to that on December 4!
