It's no secret that the editorial crew at Haikasoru loves Japan. We're working double-time to bring the best of Japanese science fiction to the English-speaking world. It's nice to know that Japan loves us back, as well.
For example: the November issue of
SF Magazine pays tribute to the late great
J.G. Ballard. The mag is chock-full of heartfelt testimonials to the highly regarded English author. Four of his stories are translated into Japanese ("News From the Sun," "The Cloud-Sculptors of Coral D," "Mae West's Reduction Mammoplasty," and "Zodiac 2000"), and the editors have even compiled a comprehensive critical overview of his published work. Quite frankly, the whole thing makes our hearts beat a little bit faster. James Graham Ballard-sensei, may he rest in peace.
