It’s a huge weekend in the world of Dueling! This weekend, thousands of Duelists are converging on Columbus, Ohio to take part in the North American World Championship Qualifier tournament. At stake are six invitations to the World Championship to take place in Tokyo later this Summer.

Just getting to this point is no cakewalk. Surviving a 6-to-9 round Regional Qualifier to get your invite for the WCQ is nothing to scoff at. If you're contemplating on going to an event, then here are a few tips to help you get ready.

1. Pick your spot.
After each Reginal Qualifier is scheduled, it’s listed HERE. It's good to know when and where the competition is going to be held. Getting that info quickly helps you plan your trip and your Deck.

2. Know your own strengths.
What are you best at? If you’re a killer Deckbuilder, you might want to shoot for a Regional Qualifier that happens right after a booster set launches. That way, you can make use of your unique skills to devise a surprise attack on the rest of the field. If you’re a table tactician, aim a little later in the season once you have an idea of what everyone else is going to play and adapt your tactics accordingly.

3. Don’t change things last minute.
If you lose one practice match, don't panic and change your Deck. Changing your entire Deck, or even a significant portion of your Deck, at the last minute is a surefire recipe for failure. It diminishes the value of your prior practice and leaves you back at square one.

4. Get a good night’s sleep, eat breakfast, and stay hydrated.
You can’t Duel if you’re dead. You also can’t Duel if you’re a zombie. Don’t be dead or a zombie.
