If you’re a fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga then you already know about the Legendary Planet cards—a series of ten massive monsters that represent the planets of our solar system along with the Sun. If you haven’t read the GX manga yet, we won’t spoil the plot relevance of the cards, but you should really consider checking it out! Over the last eight years, half of the Legendary Planet cards found their way to print, and on August 19, the other five will make their debut all at once in Dragons of Legend – Unleashed –!

Representing the planet closest to the Sun, The Tripper Mercury gains more power depending on how many monsters you Tribute for her. If you sneak her into play with a Special Summon or Mausoleum of the Emperor, she’s just a 2000 ATK monster that attacks twice per turn. Any kind of Tribute Summon, which is normally two Tributes for a Level 8 monster, forces your opponent’s monsters into Attack Position. You’re also allowed to Tribute three monsters to Summon The Tripper Mercury. If you do, you get both of the other powers plus every monster your opponent controls while Mercury is on the field (even monsters they play later on) loses all of its original ATK making it a clear path to your opponent’s Life Points!

The Blazing Mars hungers for combat and destruction and often doesn’t care what it fights as long as it gets to fight! You can Special Summon The Blazing Mars from your hand or Graveyard by banishing three other monsters from your Graveyard, so your opponent can never be truly safe from it. If you can get your opponent’s Life Points low enough, The Blazing Mars can also just end the game by sending the rest of the monsters you control to the Graveyard and burning off 500 Life Points from your opponent for each.

The stormy gas giant Jupiter is represented by The Grand Jupiter, a monster that can engulf your opponent’s monsters, stealing their ATK for itself or turning their abilities to your side. You can discard two cards to equip one of your opponent’s face-up monsters to The Grand Jupiter as an Equip Spell, increasing Jupiter’s ATK by the original ATK of the equipped monster’s ATK. If you’d rather have the stolen monster’s effect, you can Special Summon one of the monsters equipped to Jupiter back to your side of the field during either End Phase.

The only planet to have its name derived from Greek mythology is represented by The Despair Uranus. When you Tribute Summon it and control no Spell/Trap Cards, your opponent is forced to choose between letting you search your Deck for a Continuous Spell or Continuous Trap and Set it on the field. Neither choice is good for them because whatever card you pick will be extraordinarily powerful, will power up Uranus’ ATK by 300, and will become indestructible while Uranus is on the field!

While Pluto’s planethood is hotly contested, there’s no contest when it comes to The Suppression Pluto’s unique ability! There’s nothing else like it: name a card, look at your opponent’s hand, and if they have that card, you gain control of any enemy monster, Spell or Trap. When taking Spell/Trap Cards, you destroy them first and then choose whether or not you want to Set them to your side of the field, so you can still get rid of cards in the Pendulum Zones even though you can’t actually take them.

Many new, cool Decks are possible now that the remaining five Legendary Planets are on their way! Check out Dragons of Legend – Unleashed – on August 19 for chance to get them!
