This monster provided the high Pendulum Scale for Yuya’s first Pendulum Summon of the manga series in his Duel against Sawatari, and now it’s available to help power out your own Pendulum Summons!

The most important points of Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon are its name and Pendulum Scale. A Pendulum Scale of 8 is the highest you’re going to get without any strange drawbacks or restrictions on what you can Pendulum Summon, and since it’s an “Odd-Eyes” monster, you can fetch it from your Deck at any time with Sky Iris from the Master of Pendulum Structure Deck. That’s hugely important because many Pendulum strategies thrive on destroying their own cards to trigger their effects or put them in the Extra Deck, and Sky Iris lets you do exactly that while searching for an “Odd-Eyes” card.

The Pendulum Effect of Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon lets you take further advantage of Sky Iris by using it to swap out the cards in your Pendulum Zones while searching your Deck for powerful Spell Cards like Odd-Eyes Fusion or more monsters to Pendulum Summon with. If one of your face-up “Odd-Eyes” Pendulum Monsters you control is destroyed, you can destroy one card in one of your Pendulum Zones and place a face-up “Odd-Eyes” Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck into that Pendulum Zone to replace it. You can even choose Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon itself as the card to replace, which is particularly notable for when you want to get Performapal Odd-Eyes Unicorn back out of your Extra Deck, which you normally can’t do.

As a monster, Odd-Eyes Mirage Dragon lets you save any of your “Odd-Eyes” monsters from destruction once during each player’s turn. It’s a Quick Effect, so you can wait until the last possible moment to decide which card will be protected.
