Brave Story
As an editor, I can work on a particular project for over a year. That was definitely the case while editing Brave Story, a huge sprawling fantasy novel by one of Japan’s best-selling authors, Miyuki Miyabe. This book completely took over my life. But I’m happy to say that all the hard work eventually paid off in the end. Thanks to the efforts of an ace production crew, it is arguably the best-looking book VIZ Media has ever published.
Recently my pal Daniel Porter spotted Brave Story in a bookstore at SFO (that’s the San Francisco International Airport for all you inlanders). And he even snapped a picture of it. You have to agree that it looks lovely in the window display.
And as Editorial Director Masumi Washington says, the green and red colors on the cover are very Christmas-y. If you haven’t read this amazing book yet, maybe it’s time to add it to your Christmas list. Even though it’s 824 pages long, I guarantee it won’t take you a year to read.
