VIZ Media is looking for a Traffic Coordinator to join our Creative team! We are seeking a rock star coordinator to work closely with our Creative Director and team as they create 300+ visual products a year, including graphic novels, tradebooks, DVD/BD, web and video assets, and promotional materials.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs; InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat a MUST. Proficiency with Mac operating systems a MUST.
  • Knowledge of FTP and similar file transfer utilities A MUST
  • 2+ years experience in a professional publishing or design services environment or equivalent A MUST

SUMMARY

The Traffic Coordinator is a member of the Creative team which is responsible for the overall design of VIZ Media graphic novels, trade books, promotional, web and video materials. Provides administrative support to the Creative Director. Tracks and facilitates on-time delivery of projects by establishing and monitoring timelines while routing projects through deadline-driven departments.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  1. Receives, schedules, and assigns projects with supervisor oversight
  2. Creates daily hot/deliverables list and weekly status reports for meetings and managers
  3. Delivers artwork and content to designers and freelancers
  4. Routes layout proofs for graphic novels and various marketing materials
  5. Preps key art for color correction pertaining to graphic novels
  6. Fulfills logo and art requests
  7. Maintains and organizes job folders
  8. Works closely with the creative, copy, editorial, and marketing teams
  9. Enforces timelines and prioritizes projects

In addition to these duties, may perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs; InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat A MUST. Proficiency with Mac operating systems a MUST.
  • Knowledge of FTP and similar file transfer utilities a MUST.
  • Proficiency with computer usage, including email, Internet, and standard software
  • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple pro

  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with culturally diverse clients, providers, and staff

  • Ability to live in/commute to the San Francisco Bay Area
  • MUST be able to travel as needed

MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

  • 2-3 years of relevant business experience; 2+ years experience in a professional publishing or design services environment or equivalent A MUST.
  • Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree in graphic design, art, or related fields from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not supervise the work of others, but may give guidance to the work of freelancers.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 90% of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activity: lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 15 pounds, kneeling, bending. Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers and faxes. MUST be able to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.

As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
