This weekend (August 3-5), the Metreon's Action Theater (located in San Francisco at 4th St and Mission St) will play host to the very best Ranma 1/2 has to offer... namely, the Best of Ranma! Featuring seven of the best Ranma episodes ever made, this event is free to anime fans. Not familiar with Ranma? This is a great chance to get acquainted with the wacky cast of characters in Ranma's world.

First of all, there's Ranma. Thanks to a fall into a cursed spring, Ranma turns from a boy into a girl whenever he gets wet! A hot bath will reverse the effect, but only until he gets wet again. The first two episodes are the Best of Ranma, including an episode where Ranma has to deal with the problem of choosing whether to be the one that will kiss Akane (his reluctant fiancee) on stage—or let someone else do it in his place! Also, an episode where Ranma starts acting like a girl even in boy form!

Then there's Ryoga, who fell into a similar spring... only he turns into a little pig called P-chan when doused with water. How will Ryoga deal with the fact that another fiancee has appeared for Ranma? And what happens when Ryoga finds a miracle cure for his Jusenkyo curse that turns him into the little black pig...?

The final three episodes are Rumiko Takahashi's (Ranma's creator) favorite storyline. When Ranma's nemesis Happosai brands a small symbol on Ranma's back, Ranma finds himself weak as a kitten... and open to attack from every enemy he's ever faced!
