VIZ Media is looking for a Sr. Manager, Online Marketing to join our Animation team!

 

  • Thinker-doer; ability to combine strategic marketing skills with hands-on experience in multi-channel acquisition marketing A MUST
  • Strong analytical framework and understanding of “Google Analytics” A MUST
  • Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Professional understanding of the entertainment market targeted at teen boys and 18 – 34 males STRONGLY PREFERRED

 

SUMMARY

The Sr. Manager, Online Marketing is responsible for achieving subscriber acquisition / sales goals and driving revenue growth profitably.  This position will plan and execute marketing programs using in-depth understanding of a wide range of online advertising channels and sophisticated use of data.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  1. Plans, creates, and executes performance driven campaigns for all online channels including search, display, social media, and affiliate / distribution partnerships.
  2. Develops and analyzes key marketing metrics to ensure campaigns are meeting sales, subscriber, revenue, and acquisition cost goals.
  3. Works closely with the VP of Animation to manage annual marketing budgets and spends
  4. Manages a portfolio of partners such as advertising networks, tools and service providers, and social media platforms.
  5. Produces high-level reports for executives on a daily, weekly, and quarterly basis that provides information on campaign objectives, ROI, total revenue, and goal status.
  6. Leads, mentors, and grows a team of direct reports.
  7. Identifies online marketing best practices / techniques and recommend new programs.

 

In addition to these duties, may perform other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional understanding of the entertainment market targeted at teen boys and 18 – 34 males STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Results orientation with a relentless drive for rapidly iterating to continually improve results
  • Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure
  • Proficiency with computer usage, including email, Internet, and standard software
  • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English

  • Ability to live in/commute to the San Francisco Bay Area
  • MUST be able to travel as needed

 

MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

  • 5-7 years of marketing experience in a consumer company, preferably an online subscription business.  Expertise will have been built through direct management (not through an agency) of the online marketing budget.
  • Demonstrated past success in ownership of marketing campaigns from design to execution to reporting A MUST.
  • Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supervises designated members of the Marketing team, and may give guidance to the work of interns and freelancers

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 90% of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices.  Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activity: lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 15 pounds, kneeling, bending.  Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers and faxes.  MUST be able to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.

Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures.  Regular and predictable attendance is required.  Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required.  Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
