VIZ Media is looking for a Program Manager to join our Animation team, working on VIZ Media’s recently launched 24/7 anime channel, Neon Alley!

 

  • Strong analytical framework and skill set A MUST
  • Understanding of video file formats, file conversion, & digital media A MUST
  • Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Professional understanding of the entertainment market targeted at teen boys and 18 – 34 males STRONGLY PREFERRED
  • Basic understanding of video editing software (Final Cut, Adobe Premiere, Quicktime) STRONGLY PREFERRED

 

SUMMARY

The Program Manager plans, schedules, and manages programming & related content for Neon Alley.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

1       Responsible for creating and programming the weekly Neon Alley broadcast schedule working directly with the Program Director.

2       Works directly with the Animation Production team to traffic and prepare all programs & content to ensure that they meet the required Neon Alley broadcast specs, includes but not limited to minor editing, adding rating slates, commercial breaks, etc.

3       Analysis of viewership data to optimize daily / weekly / monthly programming.

4       Manages internal programming software (AD-EZ & TelVue) to schedule programs, advertising, and other interstitial content for the Neon Alley channel. 

5       Works with cross-departmental marketing teams to ensure accuracy of broadcast schedule information across a variety of different marketing channels and social media as well as programming / scheduling specific department initiatives, promotions, and upcoming campaigns.

6       Works with internal creative teams and 3rd party vendors, freelancers, & agencies to traffic the delivery of Neon Alley assets for programming.

7       Works with the Program Director and marketing team to strategize and implement special event programming.

 

In addition to these duties, may perform other duties as assigned

 

MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficiency with computer usage, including email, Internet, and standard software
  • Ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English
  • Ability to pay strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with culturally diverse clients, providers, and staff
  • Ability to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork
  • Ability to work legally in the United States
  • Ability to live in/commute to the San Francisco Bay Area
  • MUST be able to travel as needed

 

MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

  • 5 years of relevant business experience
  • Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not supervise others, but may give guidance to the work of interns and freelancers.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Approximately 90% of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices.  Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activity: lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 15 pounds, kneeling, bending.  Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers and faxes.  MUST be able to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.

Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures.  Regular and predictable attendance is required.  Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required.  Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
