Ultra Polymerization!

Avert a dueling crisis with these cards!

0518 Ygo 1In a standard Fusion Summon, the monsters you fuse together are lost to the Graveyard, never to return. The most popular Fusion-based Decks have ways to retrieve those monsters or get something extra out of them when they’re sent to the Graveyard, like Shaddolls or HEROes. Maximum Crisis introduces a new way to fuse monsters, one that can’t be countered and lets you keep the monsters you fused together!

Ultra Polymerization is incredible, but there are a couple of ground rules for using it. First, it costs 2000 LP to activate. Second, it can only fuse exactly two monsters together, and those monsters have to be on the field. If you fulfill those conditions, you can activate Ultra Polymerization to Fusion Summon using two monsters you control, and no one can activate cards or effects in response to the activation of Ultra Polymerization. That’s good, but not great. What pushes Ultra Polymerization into “great” status is that you can banish it from the Graveyard to Summon the two Fusion Materials you used back from your Graveyard.

The monsters are brought back with no ATK, DEF, or effects, but they retain all the important stuff like name, Attribute, Type, whether or not they’re a Tuner, etc. This is important because the whole point of Ultra Polymerization is that it lets you use the same set of monsters for two different Summons in the same turn. Instead of needing to choose between Tributing your two Ancient Gear Gadgets for Ancient Gear Reactor Dragon or fusing them into Ancient Gear Howitzer, you can just do both. And as a “Polymerization” card, Ultra Polymerization can be searched straight out of the Deck with anything that can grab a “Polymerization” card, like Predaplant Chimerafflesia or Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra. In fact, some of the strongest Fusion plays you can make are with those cards!

Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio lets you send a monster from your hand to the Graveyard when its Normal or Special Summoned to Summon a different “Predaplant” from your Deck. If Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra is Summoned by a “Predaplant” monster’s effect, you get to add a “Polymerization” or “Fusion” Spell Card to your hand. Grab Ultra Polymerization, and then fuse them into Predaplant Chimerafflesia—a terrifying Fusion Monster that can automatically devour monsters of an equal or lesser Level! It can also punch up to monsters up to 2000 ATK higher than itself, because each time an attack is declared involving it and another monster, the other monster loses 1000 ATK and Chimerafflesia gains 1000 ATK for the rest of the turn! Meanwhile, you can use Ultra Polymerization to bring back your two Predaplants and use them to Xyz Summon something like The Phantom Knights of Break Sword to clear out some Spell/Trap Cards or monsters too big for Chimerafflesia.
