Storm Brewing!

Blow the competition away with these cards from Raging Tempest!

By John Bae February 02, 2017

It’s not often that you want to turn down the heat on your opponent, but the Windwitches from Raging Tempest make it so easy to put your foes on ice!

0202 Ygo 1Windwitches are exactly what they sound like: WIND Attribute, Spellcaster-Type monsters. They specialize in enabling Synchro Summons and inflicting direct damage to your opponent at the same time. With Windwitches, you can Summon one of the strongest Synchro Monsters around and make it immune to destruction by card effects, just by drawing one particular card—Windwitch - Ice Bell!

Starting with no monsters on the field, activate Windwitch - Ice Bell’s effect from your hand. This Special Summons both Ice Bell and another “Windwitch” monster from your Decks so long as the only monsters you Summon from your Extra Deck this turn are Level 5 or higher WIND monsters. That’s the goal anyway, so there’s no drawback here. The monster you want to Summon from your Deck is Windwitch - Glass Bell, a Level 4 Tuner monster!

0202 Ygo 1

After the two monsters are Summoned, you can activate both of their effects. Ice Bell will deal 500 points of damage to your opponent, and Glass Bell will add another “Windwitch” monster from your Deck to your hand. This is where you bring in the third Windwitch, Windwitch - Snow Bell. Snow Bell is a Level 1 Tuner monster that you can Special Summon from your hand if you control two or more monsters and all of your monsters are WIND Attribute. Use it to Synchro Summon a WIND Attribute Synchro Monster, and that monster can’t be destroyed by your opponent’s card effects.

Now you’ve got 8 Levels’ worth of monsters and two Tuners. First, Synchro Summon a Level 7 WIND monster with Ice Bell and Glass Bell. If you already have a Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, that’s a good one to use. Then, use it and Snow Bell to Synchro Summon Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon and make it immune to destruction by your opponent’s card effects! You could also use Windwitch - Winter Bell, a new Synchro from Raging Tempest, but if you go with Clear Wing you’ll have a powerful Level 7 Synchro in the Graveyard you can revive later with something like Return of the Dragon Lords.

Now you have one of the best Synchro Monsters available which can’t be destroyed by cards like Raigeki, and you still have the rest of your hand to back up your play! This isn’t just a good combo to start Duels off with, it’s also a great comeback play because it only takes one card and you probably won’t have any monsters on the field anyways if you need to make a comeback.

You can try out the Windwitches at a Raging Tempest Sneak Peek on February 4 or 5! The set launches on February 10.
