VIZ Media is looking for a Online Marketing Manager for Social Media & Community to join our Online team!
Analytical skills & familiarity with measurement tools to track traffic and engagement statistics and the proven application of such learnings to drive e-commerce.
A subject matter expert on social media tools - knows them, has used them all, understands differences, benefits, etc., and has ability and patience to educate internal audiences.
Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) PREFERRED.
Online retailing, and/or shopping site experience is PREFERRED.
SUMMARY
The Online Marketing Manager for Social Media & Communityfocuses on building and developing the social network and relevant online marketing vehicles in a manner that is consistent with the brand and supportive of various e-commerce initiatives. The primary focus is on driving online revenue through marketing programs, acquiring and retaining profitable customers, and supporting e-commerce expansion from a marketing perspective. Helps identify new customer programs, business opportunities, and strategic relationships that profitably drive incremental sales growth for the online channel. Serves as a strategic lead in strengthening the existing online brand communities as well as developing innovative new ways to interact with our audience.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Contributes to and regularly updates external social media sites: Facebook pages/groups, LinkedIn group, MySpace pages, Twitter accounts, etc.
Daily management of existing community resources, provides guidance, support and creative actions. Proactively improves the community with new initiatives.
Identifies and nurtures relationships with most active community members in order to encourage their further involvement, reward them for their participation, and award them for serving as brand ambassadors.
Communicates with influential sites, blogs, and other online communities to develop positive brand relationships, promote content, and drive traffic.
Continuously tracks/mines user-generated content for valuable feedback and suggestions and relays that information to Senior Director of Online.
Continuously monitors technology developments and makes recommendations on implementing new social media tools; monitors internal and external web sites and facilitates discussions when relevant, utilizing existing web analytics software and appending existing data.
Creates an effective content development strategy and manages existing tools such as Google Groups, FLICKR, and Facebook.
Works in close collaboration with the Online Marketing Manager to achieve monthly traffic growth.
MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Ability to think creatively about how to use social media and proactively seek out new tools (e.g., Unisfair, Mozes, etc.)
Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, games and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comics, books, video) PREFERRED.
Online retailing, and/or shopping site experience is PREFERRED.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to take direction and work independently with little supervision.
Ability to interact with culturally diverse clients, service providers and staff.
Ability to work legally in the United States.
Ability to live in/commute to the SF Bay Area.
MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION
2-5 years of experience in social media / community / online marketing roles.
A background in online social media and community building and online marketing campaign management.
Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not supervise the work of others.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily works in an office environment. Approximately 75% of time spent on the job involves use of a computer terminal; therefore, must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices. Must be able to use standard office equipment such as copiers, faxes, mailing machinery.
As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. Employees should be willing to work with this type of content. VIZ Media does not condone the viewing of this content where not work-related.
OTHER INFORMATION
Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights, on an as-needed basis, is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
