VIZ Media is looking for a Collateral Coordinator to join our Sales & Product Marketing team!
  • Ability to fluently read, write, and speak effectively in both English and Japanese is A MUST.
  • Ability to translate documentation and interpret from Japanese to English and/or English to Japanese as needed.
  • Graphic design or production experience a PLUS.
 
SUMMARY
Responsible for managing the creation of marketing collateral for VIZ Media brand and its products from the creative brief stage through approvals.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1.       Coordinates logistics and timelines for all projects from initial concept to final delivery
2.       Submits and tracks work orders for marketing projects ranging from print to video collateral including catalogs, sell sheets, trailers, etc.
3.       Trafficks in-house production to ensure deadlines are met in a timely manner
4.       Leads internal proofing and licensing approval processes
5.       Assists in the creative development of promotional materials by drafting copy and creative briefs for assigned projects
6.       Works with approvals team to review and approve materials
7.       Manages the internal database for marketing needs and generates reports as needed
8.       Coordinates with internal and external resources on delivery and distribution of the created materials
 
In addition to these typical duties, may perform other duties as assigned and required.
 
MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
·         MUST have the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
·         MUST be able to work independently and balance multiple projects.
·         MUST possess a sharp eye for detail.
·         MUST have the capability to analyze materials from a marketing perspective.
·         Experience in working with Japanese company (w/knowledge of general Japanese business practices) is a plus.
·         Working familiarity with digital assets, file nomenclature, and workflow.
·         Skill with Internet, MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and other Mac software. 
·         Knowledge of FileMakerPro a plus 
·         Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat in Mac OSX platform a plus.
·         Knowledge of editorial/publishing industry a plus. 
·         Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, and related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comic, book, video) a plus.
·         Ability to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork.
·         Ability to interact with culturally diverse clients, service providers, and staff.
·         Ability to work legally in the United States.
·         Ability to live in/commute to the SF Bay Area.

MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION
·         2-3 years of relevant business experience. 
·         Experience in marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
·         Graphic design or production experience a PLUS.
·         Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not supervise the work of others. 
 
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activity: lifting and carrying materials, weighing up to 20 pounds, kneeling, bending. Approximately 70 percent of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal. Must be able to sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices.
 
Must be able to use or learn to use standard office equipment such as copiers, faxes, mailing machines and other related machinery.
 
May require periodic airline travel, both domestically and internationally, to attend conferences and meetings. Ability to carry small amounts of consumer material on business trips necessary.
 
As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. Employees should be willing to work with this type of content. VIZ Media does not condone the viewing of this content where not work-related.
 
OTHER INFORMATION
Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights, on an as-needed basis is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
