VIZ Media is looking for a Web Application Developer to join our Information Technology team!

  • Intermediate experience in FLEX, Flash Development
  • Strong HTML, CSS Coding
  • Strong PHP, MySQL Database Programming
  • Xinet DAM Integration - PREFERRED
  • 4 - 6 years of experience:
             -  2-3 years with Flash, Flex, OOP, and Unit Testing
             -  3-4 years PHP, MySQL
             -  2-3 years in Business Analysis
 
SUMMARY
Responsible for analyzing and understanding VIZ's business processes that can be automated by the Xinet DAM (Digital Asset Management) system. Utilizes expert development experience to understand the scale and resource requirements to appropriately derive a probable schedule for deliverables. Acts as the primary developer to customize the application for its integration into the VIZ environment. 
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
  1. Analyzes and resolves technological issues.
  2. Acts as the primary developer for customization of Xinet interface.
  3. Understands business requirements, processes and procedures.
  4. Provides ongoing Xinet portal administration.
  5. Sustains technological system conditions at optimal performance levels.
  6. Documents all aspects of technological solutions.
  7. Participates in 24 x 7 coverage of key technological systems.
  8. Educates/cross-trains existing IT staff on technological systems.
  9. Maintains effective and immediate communication.
In addition to these responsibilities, performs other activities as necessary.
 
MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
-  REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
  • Intermediate experience in FLEX, Flash Development
  • Strong HTML, CSS Coding
  • Strong PHP, MySQL Database Programming
  • Enterprise Application Support including E-mail and Web administration
  • Documentation creation and maintenance
  • Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project or equivalent, Visio or equivalent
  • Familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures

- Ability to assess and correct expectations for implementation of technological solutions.

- Ability to maintain tact and strict confidentiality regarding all Human Resource programs. 
- Ability to prioritize and efficiently manage time.
- Ability to provide leadership, foster camaraderie, and to work effectively in a small organization with an emphasis on teamwork.
- Ability to work legally in the United States.
- Ability to live in/commute to the SF Bay Area.
 
MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION
  •  4 - 6 years of experience
  • 2-3 Years with Flash, Flex, OOP, and Unit Testing
  • 3-4 Years PHP, MySQL
  • 2-3 Years in Business Analysis
- Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable preparation for this position.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not supervise others. However, during a project management scenario, effective communication and guidance is required. Temporary authority may at times be granted.
 
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the following activity: lifting and carrying materials, weighing up to 50 pounds, kneeling, bending. Approximately 50 percent of time spent on the job involves use of a video display terminal. 
 
Requires manual dexterity to assist in office upkeep: assembly of workstations, moving furniture, etc. 
 
As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. Employees should be willing to work with this type of content. VIZ Media does not condone the viewing of this content where not work-related.
 
OTHER INFORMATION
Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as nights and weekends, on an as-needed basis is required. Employees must be able to cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
